At the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission’s annual meeting on June 16, 2026, Chair Thomas L. Wentling Jr. and Dr. Peter J. Lambrou were presented with resolutions recognizing their election to emeritus status.
Lambrou joined the Commission in 2009 and served on its Executive Committee and Support for Non-physical Injury Subcommittee.
His resolution recognized the “selfless participation and skill” he demonstrated during 17 years of service advancing Andrew Carnegie’s vision for the Hero Fund.
“It’s always been inspiring,” Lambrou said as he accepted the recognition. Wentling was elected to the Commission in 1991 and served for 35 years. During his tenure, he chaired the Finance and Audit committees and later served as vice chair before being elected chair of the Commission. More than 3,000 Carnegie heroes were awarded the Carnegie Medal during his years of service.
Since 2022, Commission members who reach the maximum active service age of 75 have been eligible for emeritus status, allowing them to remain connected to the organization and continue sharing their experience, institutional knowledge, and counsel.
