William W. Marshall helped to save Charles Davies and assisted in an attempt to save an unidentified man from an explosion, Baltimore, Maryland, March 7, 1913. (See case of WILLIAM E. VAN DYKE.) Marshall, 39, marine engineer, was consulted by Van Dyke as to whether they should return for the two men, and Marshall responded favorably. He remained at his post throughout the trip. He was badly injured when the explosion occurred and was disabled 77 days. 10335-1061
