William P. Holsclaw II rescued Brian K. and Jimmy R. Holsclaw from burning, Jean, Nevada, February 10, 1984. Brian, 4, and Jimmy, 3, were asleep in their family’s mobile home when fire broke out. Their brother, William,, 12, student, discovered the fire and alerted their father, who ran outside and broke one of the bedroom’s windows. William returned to the boys’ bedroom, which was cut off by flames, and, rather than leaving by way of the window, handed Brian through it to their father. With high winds fanning the flames and his night clothes on fire, William searched the bedroom for Jimmy. Finding him, William passed him through the window to their father, who then helped William through the window. Brian was treated f or burns and cuts. Jimmy was hospitalized for nine days with second-degree burns over 35 percent of his body, and William was hospitalized for six weeks with second- and third-degree burns over 40 percent of his body.
