William B. Harrison helped to save J. Brian Subliskey and died attempting to save Edmund P. Milewski from drowning, Clark, New Jersey, February 6, 1972. While skating at a reservoir, Brian and Edmund, each 15, high-school students, broke through the ice into deep water and called for help. Harrison, 47, underground cable inspector, removed his shoes and jacket, stepped onto the ice, and proceeded toward the boys; but before he reached them he also broke through, enlarging the hole in the ice. Brian swam to Harrison, who pushed him five feet toward the bank as the youth broke the ice ahead of him. From that point, Brian was able to reach the bank safely. Harrison swam to Edmund; and they were submerged briefly together. Edmund then sank, and Harrison also went under. Both drowned. 52568-5978
