William A. Miller, 35, clerk, helped to save three unidentified women from drowning, Montrose, Pennsylvania, July 4, 1918. (See case of DANIEL V. MILLER.) Miller, who was dressed, was the one who swam to his brother and relieved him of the women. He swam 30 feet with each of the first two women, and after swimming 20 feet with the third woman, he became so tired that he let down. He failed to touch bottom and swam to the surface. A man and a woman in another canoe then reached him and assisted him and the woman to the gravel. Miller was nearly exhausted. 19146-1499
