Thomas F. Maher, 53, crossing watchman, died attempting to save Jennie S. Kinsella, 31, and Ellen L. Sheehan, 65, from being run over by a train, Lancaster, New York, April 16, 1911. Maher ran in front of a train running at a speed of 35 m.p.h. to save the women, who had fallen on the track. All three were struck and knocked from the track. Mrs. Sheehan, as well as Maher, was killed, but Mrs. Kinsella escaped with slight injuries.
