Thomas E. Lemons, Jr., saved J. Mullins and Nannie M. Gregory from drowning, Mineral Wells, Texas, August 7, 1926. While Gregory, 24, wrapper, was wading in the bathing pool of Lake Mineral, he stepped into deep water. His wife, 19, swam to him in an attempt to aid him, but he grabbed her and a struggle followed. Thomas, 17, student, swam 120 feet to them. Gregory grabbed him around the neck with both arms. After a futile attempt to push Gregory from him, Thomas struck him, and Gregory relaxed his hold. Thomas swam with him 10 feet to wadable water, then he returned to Mrs. Gregory, who was helpless, and towed her to the bank. 26591-2146
