Thomas B. Bockwich, 19, apprentice, saved Harold C. Ashborn, 9, from drowning, Waterbury, Connecticut, January 1, 1906. Bockwich dived into a hole in the ice on Forrest Lake and supported Harold in the water 10 minutes until they were assisted onto firm ice.
