Thelma M. McNee, 17, dentist’s assistant, saved James D., 7, and Alice Cooney, 3, from burning, Boston, Massachusetts, May 30, 1905. Thelma went from her apartment, by way of the roof, to the one adjoining, on the third floor of a building that was burning fiercely, and took the children, who were locked in a room, through dense smoke to the street. 918-146
