S. Ellsworth Lewis, 22, farmer, saved E. Chesley Parker, 23, farmer, from drowning, Upper Economy, Nova Scotia, July 19, 1924. While swimming in deep water in Economy Cove, Parker became distressed. Lewis, who weighed much less than Parker, swam to him. Parker grasped him with both arms around the waist, and they struggled. Lewis finally managed to get free, and he tried to swim with Parker, but Parker got away from him in his struggling. After Parker had almost ceased to struggle, Lewis took hold of him again and swam with him 115 feet to wadable water. Parker was unconscious, but he was revived. 24701-2032
