Rudolph James Hodik saved Verna Mae Gallinger and Lucille M. Prue from drowning, Peshtigo, Wisconsin, June 14, 1924. Hodik, 27, clergyman, who was almost fully clothed, waded from the bank, swam 30 feet, and dived where the girls had sunk. He caught Mae, 13, by the arm, and Lucille, 13, grabbed his leg. Using one arm and one leg, Hodik swam 20 feet with the girls to shallow water, being repeatedly submerged as he swam. (See case of VERNA MAE GALLINGER.) 24946-2151
