Richard K. Myers saved Ryan W. and Todd M. Loux from suffocation, Johnstown, New York, December 20, 1973. Fire broke out in a bedroom in a one-story frame dwelling where Ryan, 22 months, and Todd, two months, were in the living room. Among those attracted by the screams of the children’s mother was Richard, 14, high-school student. He broke open the kitchen door and entered the dwelling, which was filled with dense smoke. Twice Richard crawled into the living room, removing first Ryan and then Todd. Both children were unconscious, but they recovered from effects of the smoke. 53814-6139
