Rezin R. Johnson, 51, farm laborer, saved Benjamin McMurray, 30, farmer, from suffocation, Dillsboro, Indiana, August 8, 1913. McMurray entered a well 30 feet deep in which dynamite had been exploded. He felt dizzy and called for a ladder but was overcome before he could start to climb out. After two others had refused to enter, Johnson descended by means of the stone wall and a ladder that extended 18 feet from the bottom. He tied a rope to McMurray and then ascended and steadied McMurray’s body as it was raised. Johnson was not affected. McMurray was revived in an hour. 11548-1282
