Reat I. Medcalf, 28, driller, rescued James B. Moore, 31, driller’s helper, from a fatal fall, Earlsboro, Oklahoma, August 10, 1927. Moore, who weighed 131 pounds, fell head first from a platform on a derrick, 77 feet above the floor. Medcalf on the floor of the derrick stepped under Moore and caught him in his arms. One of Moore’s legs struck the floor and was broken. Medcalf was not injured. 27621-2337
