Ray Linville rescued Amanda M. and Charles J. Yoder from burning, Goshen, Indiana, December 14, 1984. Amanda, 11 months old, and her twin brother Charles were in a playpen in the living room of their mobile home when fire broke out in a bedroom. Linville, 47, mobile home park manager, was alerted to the fire by neighbors. He ran to the mobile home, where he helped to pull open its locked front door. Assisted by others, Linville dragged the twins’ mother and two of her nephews from the mobile home. Assuming that the twins were in their playpen, Linville entered the mobile home and crawled across its living room, in which heat was intense and smoke prevented visibility. Linville located the babies in their playpen and carried them out one at a time. They and their mother were hospitalized for burns. Linville was hospitalized overnight for smoke inhalation, from which he fully recovered. 60390-6995
