Ralph O. English, 25, painter, died attempting to save Dora M. Mosher, 4, from drowning, Macomb, Illinois, April 3, 1917. Dora fell off a dam into Lake Ruth, where the water was seven feet deep. English, who could swim, ran to the dam and entered the icy water, but he sank and rose three times struggling, and then sank and was drowned.
