Ralph H. Jacobs, 29, road construction foreman, saved Delbert B. Hartley, 31, railroad shopman, from drowning, Wilma, Washington, July 2, 1925. (See case of DELBERT B. HARTLEY.) Jacobs, whose legs were partially paralyzed and practically of no use in swimming, was the man who gave Mrs. Erickson a shove that took her to wadable water. He then swam 10 feet to Hartley, and Hartley tried to grab him. Jacobs pushed him away and then with considerable difficulty swam 16 feet with Hartley to wadable water. Hartley had made occasional attempts to take hold of Jacobs while Jacobs swam with him. Jacobs was badly winded. 25377-2084
