Paul Frederick Knollenberg, 16, student, saved Harry L. Hamilton, 20, student, and Homer L. Hylton, 20, clerk, from drowning, Chester, Illinois, May 25, 1916. (See case of HARRY L. HAMILTON.) Paul heard Hamilton’s cries for help and swam 45 feet to Hamilton and Hylton. He placed his hands between them and separated them. They were dazed and did not struggle. Paul then grasped both Hylton and Hamilton with his right hand and swam with them about 12 feet to wadable water. He carried Hylton to the bank, but Hamilton was able to wade. 16502-1618
