Nels J. Nelson, 62, laborer, saved Stanley McArthur, 8, from drowning, Kushequa, Pennsylvania, March 27, 1907. Nelson swam 140 feet in Kinzua Creek, which was in flood stage and running thick with floating timber, to Stanley. He then swam 25 feet with him, reaching shore within a short distance of a log jam under a bridge. 1793-150
