Nancy Ann Gregg attempted to save Earl E. Jones from drowning, Milford, Delaware, June 23, 1979. When Jones, 62, fell out of a boat while fishing in the Atlantic Ocean, Mrs. Gregg, 24, jumped in to aid him, but currents prevented her from towing him to the anchored boat. Mrs. Gregg’s father then also jumped into the deep water. Seeing that her father was having difficulty swimming, Mrs. Gregg swam to him after giving Jones a floatable cushion for support. Mrs. Gregg was unable to get to the boat with her father and lost hold of him. Jones lost his hold on the cushion. Both men drowned. Another boat arrived and took Mrs. Gregg aboard.
