Louise Ferguson Levis saved Edward E. LeBlanc from drowning, Humarock Beach, Massachusetts, July 7, 1925. LeBlanc, 23, painter, fell from a raft into deep and very cold water in the Atlantic Ocean 300 feet from shore. Louise, 17, swam from shore to LeBlanc, who became unconscious just as she was about to take hold of him. She slowly swam 175 feet with him toward shore, feeling his weight and at times despairing of getting him to shore. LeBlanc’s brother then met her, and they swam with LeBlanc 100 feet nearer shore. Others then gave assistance. Louise was nearly exhausted. LeBlanc was revived. 25356-2135
