Louis L. Lambert attempted to save Michael J. Reagan and Charles E. Murray from suffocation, Leominster, Massachusetts, October 6, 1924. (See case of CHARLES E. MURRAY.) Lambert, 21, laborer, and another man brought a ladder to the manhole, and Lambert entered the manhole on the ladder. He took hold of Reagan, 39, laborer, to raise him, but an end of a clothes line was then dropped to him, and he attempted to put it around Murray, 65, laborer. The gas began to affect him, and he climbed the ladder. He reeled as he neared the top and was about to fall, but men at the top caught him and lifted him out of the manhole. He recovered. 25875-2019
