Lorion G. Hallett, 18, student, saved Roy G. Greene, 36, teacher, and H. Wellington Carrick, 20, student, from drowning, Silver Beach, Massachusetts, August 21, 1916. While swimming in water seven feet deep in Wild Harbor, Carrick called to Greene to help him. Greene swam a short distance to Carrick and let him take hold of his back. Carrick then climbed on Greene and forced him to the bottom. Miss Hallett swam 175 feet to Carrick, let down to the bottom, and boosted Carrick up, breaking his hold on Greene. After she rose to the surface, she drew Greene to the surface. Although Greene was weak and bewildered, he swam to shallow water. Miss Hallett took hold of Carrick and swam 60 feet with him to shallow water. 17493-1563
