Lila Lifely rescued Alyson M. Parker from an attacking cougar, Sooke, British Columbia, August 3, 1985. Alyson, 10, was on a camping trip with six other girls when she was attacked by a cougar. Nearby, the girls’ counselor, Miss Lifely, 19, college student, was alerted; she ran to the scene. As the cougar was dragging Alyson away, Miss Lifely shouted, picked up a small log, and struck the cougar on the forehead. The cougar fled. Miss Lifely ran for a first aid kit, but when she returned she found that the cougar had come back and was crouched over Alyson. Using a branch, Miss Lifely struck the cougar on the head again, causing it to flee. Others arrived, and Alyson was taken to the hospital, where she was detained for treatment of her extensive wounds. 60622-6994
