Lawrence Ogletree saved a boy from a runaway automobile, Martinez, Georgia, August 8, 1989. A two-year-old boy was the sole occupant of a car that began to coast backward out of a parking lot and onto a five-lane highway. Driving on the highway when he noticed the car, Ogletree, 38, insurance sales agent, immediately parked his car and pursued the runaway one. He ran across four traffic lanes, jumped into the car through its driver’s door, and stepped on the brake, taking the car to a stop. A passing tractor-trailer narrowly avoided striking the car. Ogletree recovered from bruises on his shins sustained while entering the car.
