Lawrence J. Menig, 23, clerk, saved Earl J. Atzrott, 22, photographer, from drowning, Farnham, New York, August 10, 1930. While Atzrott was swimming in Lake Erie at Hayes Bay more than 100 feet from shore, he got into distress in rough water and undertow and was carried farther from shore. Menig, who was farther from land and somewhat dizzy from swimming in the rough water, swam 40 feet to Atzrott and with the utmost exertion towed him as he swam 70 feet to wadable water. Atzrott was semiconscious but was revived. Menig was temporarily exhausted.
