Larry Lee Moore died after attempting to rescue John D. West from burning, Toledo, Ohio, October 29, 1994. At work in a steel company plant, West, 43, slipped from a ledge and fell into a tank containing a heated chemical solution that was about seven feet deep. He called for help. An employee who was nearby, Moore, 46, utility man, witnessed West fall and immediately started toward him. Moore climbed up onto the ledge and was en route to West when he too fell into the tank. Both severely burned, Moore and West were pulled from the tank by others and were hospitalized. West died of thermal burns the next day, and Moore succumbed to the same effect the following day.
