Joseph E. Hames, 31, locomotive hostler, saved Beatrice M. Bouchee, 40, from being struck by a train, Revere, Massachusetts, July 12, 1928. Mrs. Bouchee started to cross a track on which a train was approaching at a speed of about 10 m.p.h. She fell to her hands and knees on the track when the train was about 70 feet from her. Hames ran 12 to 15 feet to Mrs. Bouchee, stepped over the rail with one foot, and lifted and pulled her from the track. Both fell clear of the track when the locomotive, running at reduced speed, was not more than four feet from them. 28407-2384
