Joseph Cimino died attempting to save Robert T. Hawkins from drowning, Watson, West Virginia, June 12, 1920. Robert, 10, got into deep water in the West Fork River while bathing. He struggled, attempting to swim, and was carried about 20 feet from the bank. Joseph, 12, schoolboy, dived from the bank and swam to Robert, who was sinking. He dived under Robert and held him up by his feet a moment, then he released his hold, sank, and was drowned. Robert was rescued by a man who swam to him from the bank. 20479-1722
