John W. Frain, 15, office boy, saved C. Edward Ley, 17, from drowning, South Bend, Indiana, June 16, 1907. After having swum to Edward, who had become exhausted while swimming in the St. Joseph River 50 feet from the bank, John avoided Edward’s grasp and returned to shore.
