John J. Martin saved Frederick S. Cecchini from being killed by a train, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, August 26, 1925. Frederick, 3, stood on a track on which a train was approaching at a speed of 30 m.p.h. Martin, 36, motorman, jumped from the street car he was operating and ran 30 feet to the track. Stepping between the rails when the locomotive was not more than 40 feet distant, Martin seized Frederick and then stepped backward from the track.
