John F. Frawley, 21, teamster, rescued J. Leo Reardon, 27, from a runaway, Lynn, Massachusetts, August 6, 1915. Reardon, a paralytic, was on a covered wagon to which a fractious horse was hitched. The horse became frightened and galloped down a street at top speed. Frawley ran to meet the horse and grasped its bridle as it turned a corner. He lost his footing and was carried along toward a pole at the side of the street. Seeing that he would be dashed against the pole, he released the bridle and ran around the pole as the horse passed it. He overtook the horse and seized the bridle again. When the horse had run about 950 feet with Frawley clinging to it, it fell to its side, and Frawley fell on top of it. He was not seriously injured. 15253-1355
