John David McGeachie saved Peter Frank Giltrow from drowning, Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia, January 31, 1971. When he attempted unsuccessfully to save another man from drowning in Trout Lake, Giltrow, 23, became so cold that he could hardly move; and he called for help. McGeachie, 27, traffic coordinator, removed most of his attire and entered the cold water. He swam 75 feet and obtained a hold on Giltrow. Although the cold was affecting his swimming ability, McGeachie towed Giltrow back to the bank.
