Jeffery Edward Brady died helping to save two boys from drowning, Martinez Lake, Arizona, July 5, 2025. During a family outing on the Colorado River, a 10-year-old boy entered deeper water from a nearby submerged sandbar and was struggling, and he soon was followed by his 12-year-old brother, who also had difficulty when he tried to help his brother. Also in the boys’ party was Brady, 51, manager of consumer products, who was on a boat with his partner – the boys’ aunt – anchored on the sandbar. Responding to calls for help, Brady left the boat and entered the deeper water. Brady submerged as he struggled to keep both boys above the surface, and Brady’s twin brother and the brother’s partner soon joined them in the river. A passing boat stopped, and the boys and the partner all boarded it. By then, Brady had submerged and did not resurface. Brady’s brother dived, searching the immediate area, but could not find him and exited the river. First-responders evaluated the boys, who did not require medical treatment. Brady was recovered downstream hours later; he had drowned.
