Jeanette Paul Krumpotick, 29, housewife, saved Kenneth J. Sebert, aged five, from drowning, Berlin, Wisconsin, March 24, 1949. While playing with two other children on the bank of the Fox River, Kenneth, who could not swim, fell into cold water three feet deep, was submerged briefly, and drifted in a current of two miles an hour into water 15 feet deep 65 feet from the bank. Mrs. Krumpotick, who was frail and underweight, was apprised of the accident by the chlidren and ran 75 feet to the river. Fully clothed, she waded and swam 120 feet to Kenneth, who floated unconscious with his head beneath the surface. Placing her arm beneath his chin, she swam towing him 65 feet to the bank, where she partially revived him. They were aided from the water by others.
