James William Livesay saved an unidentified boy from being struck by a train, Redwood City, California, February 12, 1976. A boy, about 3, rode his tricycle onto a railroad crossing and stopped between the rails of a track on which a commuter train was approaching. Livesay, 41, freight line operator, ran onto the crossing and into the path of the train. He took hold of the boy, who firmly grasped the tricycle. Stepping backward from the track, Livesay pulled the boy and the tricycle from the path of the train, which narrowly missed them as it passed over the crossing and stopped some distance beyond.
