James J. Hooper, Jr., 16, factory hand, saved Harold C. Crits, 19, factory hand, from drowning, Stratford, Ontario, June 18, 1923. (See case of WILLIAM L. ROBERTSON.) After William had swum to the bank, James, who was smaller than Crits, swam 20 feet to him. Crits grabbed him, and both went under the surface a number of times before James succeeded in towing Crits 25 feet to the bank. James was very tired, and Crits was then unconscious but was revived. 23796-2090
