James A. Fraser, 40, electrician, died attempting to save Doris E. Seton-Adamson, Consuelo G. Inksater, and Marion Thomson, all 16, from drowning, Paris, Ontario, August 26, 1916. The three young women became distressed in the Grand River, in a hole 10 feet deep 100 feet from the bank. Fraser waded to the hole and plunged into it toward the young women, but he and Doris immediately sank together and were drowned. Marion, who had been released by Doris when Fraser reached them, gained wadable water by her own efforts, and Consuelo paddled at the surface until two boys came to her rescue in a boat. 17098-1271
