J. Edgar March saved Marie DesBarres, 17, and Ada W. Ford, 19, from drowning, Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick, August 5, 1913. The attention of March, 22, editor, who was in a run-down condition, was attracted to the girls, and throwing off his coat and shoes, he swam 40 feet to them. He reached down and drew Marie to the surface, and as he was grasping her under her arms, Miss Ford clutched his shirt. At his request she released him, and she then caught hold of Marie. March turned on his back and swam with all his strength toward shore. After swimming 40 feet with the girls, he reached wadable water and was relieved of them. Marie was unconscious for three hours, and March was exhausted. (See case of ADA W. FORD.) 11573-1434
