Hilda E. Hertlein saved Viola K. Poock from being killed by a street car, Sandusky, Ohio, April 8, 1921. Viola, 4, sat playing on a street car track as a car, running 20 m.p.h., was approaching. Hilda, 12, schoolgirl, ran 125 feet from the direction the car was coming to Viola, stepped between the rails, lifted Viola, and stepped off the track with her. The car stopped 20 feet past the point of rescue, having barely missed Hilda and Viola. 21395-1776
