Herbert E. McGowan, 45, carpenter, rescued Raymond F. Butcher, 28, carpenter, from a fatal fall, Harmon, New York, January 15, 1928. Butcher, who weighed 160 pounds, fell head first from a timber 26 feet above the concrete floor of a building in which he was working. McGowan stepped to a point on the floor under Butcher and caught him. One of McGowan’s knees was permanently injured, and he was fully disabled for 10 months. Butcher was slightly injured.
