Harry Z. Householder, 23, clerk, saved Loretta M. Forgan, 16, from drowning, Baltimore, Maryland, September 19, 1908. Loretta and two other girls had fallen from a launch on the Patapsco River. Householder and another man jumped from the moving boat. Once in the river, the second man briefly held all three girls until Householder relieved him of Loretta. Householder was forced under the water momentarily when the girl grasped him about the neck, but he freed himself, towed her 12 feet to a bridge, and supported her there until a boat arrived.
