Harry W. May saved Martin Maier from being killed by a train, Sandusky, Ohio, October 29, 1920. Maier, 76, laborer, started across a track in front of a locomotive which was approaching at a speed of 8 m.p.h. When the locomotive was about 15 feet from Maier, May, 25, yard conductor, who was 10 feet from him, leaped between the rails, grasped Maier by the shoulder, and pushed him backward off the track.
