Harell N. Magee, Jr., died attempting to save Paula P. Woolridge from drowning, Doniphan, Missouri, May 18, 1974. When she got into deep water while wading in the Current River, Mrs. Woolridge, 19, called for help. Harell, 16, high-school student, entered the water and swam to Mrs. Woolridge, who was about 75 feet from the bank. Shouting that he could not make it, Harell then sank and drowned. Three men, including the husband of Mrs. Woolridge, swam to her. She then was inert. Mrs. Woolridge was removed from the water, but she could not be revived. 53971-6138
