Glenn Windsor Kissel, 15, student, saved Kathryn B. Farnbauch, 16, from drowning, Springfield Center, Ohio, August 3, 1917. Kathryn waded in Springfield Lake 400 feet from shore and stepped into deep water. Glenn, who was convalescing from a long illness, waded to deep water and swam 10 feet to her. She grasped him around the neck, and both sank. Glenn struck Kathryn and rendered her unconscious. Both rose to the surface, and Glenn swam with her to wadable water. They were taken to shore in a boat, and Kathryn was revived. 18477-1621
