Glendora E. Allen saved Stella M. Frye from drowning, Lanagan, Missouri, June 27, 1931. While swimming in Indian Creek, Stella, 15, attempted to stand at a point 25 feet from the bank, threshed in deep water, and called to Glendora, 10, schoolgirl, for help. Although she was afraid to try to aid Stella, Glendora waded and then swam 15 feet to her. Stella grasped her shoulders, and after a struggle, in which she was twice submerged, Glendora freed herself and swam to a point close to the bank. Stella continued to thresh, and Glendora swam 15 feet to her, grasped her hand, and towed her six feet to wadable water.
