Gideon King Marshall died attempting to save Arthur Truby and Fernand Pilette from suffocation, Springdale, Pennsylvania, May 25, 1904. Marshall, 39, carpenter, was overcome by gas while sliding down a rope to the bottom of a 32-foot well to rescue the two men, 23 and 32, who were already unconscious. All three perished. SILVER MEDAL
