George Koenig, 56, switchman, saved an unidentified man and woman from being killed by a train, Evansville, Indiana, July 2, 1921. An elderly man and woman were walking on the ties just outside the rail of a track on which a train was approaching behind them at a speed of 30 m.p.h. Koenig, who was facing them and failed to attract their attention by shouting, ran 50 feet to them, got on the track, ran around them, pushed the woman, who was nearest him, against the man, and shoved both out of the path of the train. Koenig followed them off the track and just cleared the train. 21756-1845
