George F. Hepler, 20, student, sustained fatal injuries attempting to rescue George M., Jr., 4, and Robert M. Thompson, 3, from being killed by an automobile, Butler, Pennsylvania, June 27, 1924. After George Thompson and Robert entered a closed automobile at the curb, the brake was loosened, and the automobile started downgrade and across a lawn. Hepler ran to it, jumped upon the running board when it was going about 6 m.p.h., and reached through the open front window, but in a moment the automobile went over a wall three feet high and turned, crushing Hepler beneath it. The children crawled out, uninjured, but Hepler died of his injuries the following morning.
