Fredrick G. Michaelis saved Arlie G. Berry from being killed by a train, Randall, Minnesota, July 22, 1924. Arlie, 2, walked onto a track on which a train was approaching at a speed of 40 m.p.h. Michaelis, 55, bridge-builder foreman, who was recovering from recent operations on his feet and walked with great difficulty, ran 240 feet to Arlie, lifted him with one hand, and ran from the track, clearing it when the train was only a few feet distant. 24696-2181
